Message I have finally started to put my ides into action and start building an individual throttle body intake manifold for my Z. It will be built using a modified upper plenum with six 46mm TBs attatched. They will be bolted to plates that will be welded on the ends of the runners and the TBs. The plenums will be made out of sheet aluminum with modified stock recirc valves attatched. There will be a vacuum line from each TB going to a small chamber made out of aluminum. The factory idle control valve and other vacuum sources will attach to this chamber.

To answer some anticipated questions such as "how much power, throttle response, drivability, etc. am I expecting to gain?" The answer is none. I am not expecting any gains really. I just hope it works as good as stock. I am building this for the fun of it and to see if I can make it wok, that's it.

The next step is to machine all the runners to the same length/angle on the mill. Then the plates to mount the TBs need to be fabbed and then welded. After that comes the linkage which is proving to be the hard part. I am unable to find small ball joints made of metal. I am looking for R/C sized parts but not plastic. I need an actual ball joint with a bolt going through the ball not the cup and ball style usually seen on R/C stuff. Anyway on to the pics, enjoy.

The manifold after bead blasting and the battle with the hacksaw and cut-off wheels.

Notice the funky triangle port.

After welding and grinding the port to match the rest.

Close-up of the modified port.

Manifold bolted to fixture for milling.

Just some different angles...

Rough layout of the plan.

On the spare engine for clearance modifications.

I will post updates after they happen...
